Obra de Berco Orphanage in Rio de Janeiro
The orphanage - supposedly a publicly run institution - houses 100 children aged from 0 to 6 years, most of them orphans or foundlings. Public funding amounts to only € 14 per child, which is hardly enough to survive on. Individual donations ad regular payments (based on sponsorships) are collected and directly forwarded to the orphanage by the Furtwangen Community of Catholic Women to make sure that every euro arrives at its destination. These monies are used, inter alia, to fund medical and educational care for the children.
We support this institution with two sponsorships.
